Quality assessment and operations

A corrective action is complete when the problem stays resolved

Managers need more than an incident log. A useful quality system links the finding, cause, action, owner, and evidence that the change worked.

The issue COLA highlights

COLA's Spring 2026 inSights describes quality assessment across the whole testing process, including documentation, competency, calibration, maintenance, root-cause analysis, and effectiveness review. It also points to the practical difficulty of finding records when documentation is poorly organized.

The management lesson is straightforward: a corrective action needs a follow-up decision. Record what changed and what evidence would demonstrate improvement. A signature or a closed status by itself does not explain whether the problem returned.

Make the review useful to the bench and the director

For a repeated QC exception, begin with a factual timeline and the relevant evidence. Consider material handling, maintenance, reagent or calibration changes, communication, workflow, and training. Avoid assigning a cause before checking the record. Escalate resource and system constraints to the leaders who can change them.

Agree the observation period and quality safeguards before evaluating a correction. Track repeated exceptions, delayed releases, time spent resolving the issue, and whether the approved procedure was followed. Show the result and any limitation in a short director memo.

A recurring service with a defined output

The AssayIQ Laboratory Quality and Readiness Program organizes a scoped review queue, an action register, monthly director summaries, and an agreed evidence package. Qualified laboratory leaders retain final decisions and competency-assessment responsibilities. Support is scheduled and does not imply an emergency service.

For corporate buyers, each participating laboratory keeps its own findings and approvals. A consolidated summary identifies shared causes, site-specific risks, and decisions needing regional resources. Pricing begins with the existing single-lab Quality Partner scope from $2,500/month; network coverage and backlog cleanup are separately quoted.
